"A Moms Hands" by: Niketa Calame
“A Moms Hands”
Your Hands reached out for me when I was crying from the
shock of this new world
Such tears of joy from seeing you finally had your little
girl
Your hands reached out for me and held me close to your
heart
That steady beat that comforts a newborn baby, clearly gods
work of art.
Those hands reached out for me when I needed to eat, needed
to sleep, needed to release and needed to try and speak to you, mumbled sounds
trying to form the words I love you, thank you for taking care of me, thank you
for keeping me safe
Those hands drove me to and fro, as I started to grow, and get involved. To school, to rehearsal, to
dance class, to birthday parties, to slumber parties, to church.
Never a complaint, just the satisfied look at
what your creation was becoming, overcoming, running this race of life, your
hands have passed the baton,
your hands consistently say good job carry on.
How the tables turn as we live and learn. Because of your
unconditional love my hands have turned into your hands. My hands have reached
out to your when you needed to eat,
when you needed to bathe, when you needed
to sleep.
A childs returned love is the direct result of what a mothers hands
have nurtured.
You have fought your way into this world and you have fought
your way past death. God has put you to test after test and has blessed you
with yet one more year. Years that doctors thought were not promised to you but
God said it isn’t time yet so you just enjoy life and slow dance for a while
and realize that everything will be fine when you let your God light shine.
Like the giving tree you give and give but in this chapter
of your life its time to receive and let bygons be. Live your life young mother live your life.
And when its time to lay down the final time years and years and years from
now, We will all say well done young Mother well done, Your hands can lay to
rest you have done your absolute best!
Love you Mom,
Niketa Calame

IM EQUITY
So because I am a member of SAG/AFTRA I could always buy my membership into Actors Equity because it is a sister union. However I wanted Equity to send me a letter saying to join because of some Equity contract I was in for a play or musical. Just like when I was in CB4 I was a must join after that booking. Well I recently booked a reading for Center Theater Group and they gave me an equity contract so it is done. I got my letter in the mail and returned the membership application. I am now SAG/Aftra and Equity yay! Things come slowly but surely there is a method to my madness. I am building a career with longevity in mind!

On the set of "Quiet"
Had a wonderful time filming the short QUIET. Deals with a couple in major turmoil who is faced with the end conjured by a ghost from the past. Great crew and I got to work with my boyfriend for the first time on camera. We were in a play together years ago but his was the first of many of on camera collaboration.

Happy New Year
New year turned out to be wonderful. We
ended up at SPOONFUL a soulfood
restaurant owned by my Aint Misbehavin
castmate Dedrick Bonner. SPOONFUL is
right by universal studios so we got to run
outside and catch the fireworks. The fruity
drinks were being delivered every 30 min by
Mr. bonner and Ms. Amber sang a few songs
on the bar to make the night just a wonderful way to bring in the new year.
I love that the new year is here. I am ready
for all of the excitment it has to offer. A lot
of changes happened in 2012 and hopefully
that was to gear us up for a frand 2013. Alot
of growth, alot of hardship, alot of love, alot
of anger, alot of hurt, alot of triumpth and
excitement we are leaving behind in 2012.
My cousins moving back from South Carolina, my godsister is going to have a little boy and two of my friends are having their second babies. Got some new agents
this year. Abrams Artist for Voice Over,
Rogers Orion for Theatrical and Stage and
Media Artist Group for Commercial. I want
to work it to the limit this year. I pray for a
a few National Commercials and at least two
major studio films, and grand number of
television guest star roles, and to top it off
some great theater experiences.
